Welcome to MrMason.com, BCHS 1.5, dedicated to serving the Boca Ciega High School earth science community. With this web site we expect to improve communication, increase exposure, expand student opportunities and increase student achievement.

Earth science combines the studies of: geology, oceanography, meteorology, astronomy and ecology. While we work to increase student understanding of the essential concepts in each field of study we strive to instill an appreciation for the beauty and interdependence of the systems that drive our planet, climate, oceans and atmosphere.

With each section we will pay particular attention to Florida's unique systems, their relevance to students and dependence on good stewardship. We will also be focusing on the science benchmarks from the Sunshine State Standards that relate to our class as student mastery of these is essential to their success.

Whether you're assigned to Mr. Yeazell or Mr. Mason this website will be your connection to class from home or your local library. All of our processes and outcomes have been coordinated so that we might provide one resource for all BCHS earth science students.

Please take a few minutes, if this is your first visit, to check out the different sections of the site. A brief description of the menu items can be found in the slider above for your convenience.

After sleeping through a hundred million centuries we have finally opened our eyes on a sumptuous planet, sparkling with color, bountiful with life. Within decades we must close our eyes again. Isn't it a noble, an enlightened way of spending our brief time in the sun, to work at understanding the universe and how we have come to wake up in it? This is how I answer when I am asked -- as I am surprisingly often -- why I bother to get up in the mornings.
